The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviour to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. This updated curriculum, complete with new science, also provides improved learning when it comes to giving the appropriate care in the event of an emergency.

Ages 11-15 (or completed grade 5)

It focuses on:

- How to be responsible and demonstrate leadership

- How to make good decisions and manage difficult behaviours

- Information on children’s developmental stages, and specific strategies for each stage

- How to feed, diaper, dress, and play with children and babies

- How to recognize and prevent unsafe situations, make safe choices and promote safe behaviours

- First aid skills

- The business of babysitting

Real-world scenarios often call on children to respond to challenges. The Stay Safe!program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills, while increasing and reinforcing a youth’s capacity to improve his or her own safety. Whether in their community or on their own, this group will be given better tools to Stay Safe! in a variety of different situations.

Ages 9-13 (or completed grade 3)
It focuses on:
- Importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself

- Importance of setting and following rules around safety when staying on your own

- How to stay safe at home and within the community

- How to prepare, recognize and respond to unexpected situations, (i.e. inclement weather, strangers, unanticipated visits)

This course provides the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children, and infants depending on the level chosen. CPR/AED meets legislation requirements for provincial/ territorial WSIB, and include the latest CPR guidelines and training in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Healthcare Providers BLS


Designed to build participant confidence in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills in a team environment for professionals with a duty to respond. Teaches the important steps to perform a rapid assessment, perform Basic Life Support (BLS) skills, and perform rapid defibrillation including use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). 

Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy can also be added as additional certifications to this course. 



Stand-alone course – 4 hours

With Airway Management – 5 hours

With Oxygen Therapy – 5 hours

With Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy – 6 hours

Payment/Cancelation Policy

 Payment is due at time of registration and must be paid in full before start of class. We accept cash, cheque, etransfer, Visa/Mastercard

All certificates will be held until payments have cleared. Certificates will be emailed within 10 business days of completed course & received funds. 

All NSF cheques will be subject to a $40 NSF fee that will be added to the course total and must be paid immediately in order to receive course certificate. This amount is not withstanding any bank charges from your own personal banking institution.

Cancellations and Refunds

- Cancellation and/or refund requests can be made with 2 DAYS NOTICE prior to course date.

- If you are unable to attend a course for any reason, we can move it to another date with 2 DAYS NOTICE

- New course date must be attended within 30 days. If no course is available, a refund will be issued.  


If a course is cancelled by I.C.E. First Aid Training for any reason, a new course date will be offered within 30 days. If no course is available, a refund will be issued.


Course Completion Requirements

- Each person must have the ability to comprehend and pass a knowledge evaluation with a minimum mark of 75%

- Each person must be able to demonstrate all required skills - which will require participants to get down on the floor and on their knees for a minimum of 2 minutes.
- Each participant must attend and participate in 100% of the course. 


* Every effort will be made to accommodate all learning styles, and physical abilities and limitations, however, if you cannot perform mandatory skills demonstrations, we will provide a participation letter in place of course certification. We use a variety of teaching and testing methods to accommodate all learning styles. If you have a special situation, please  contact our office prior to course date to ensure accommodations can be made.
